Anya Ulinich immediately fell in love with the excess of Palissy Ware. Traditionally Palissy objects celebrate nature’s abundance with plants, fish, snakes and amphibians. Her brightly glazed, crowded relief interpretations of this 16th Century French pottery style turns our attention to a different type of abundance - post consumer trash. To tell her stories she uses rats and trash in conjunction with gloss glaze allowing the scenes to look, at once, attractive and repelling.
